Royal Jaipur
The famous pink city has always remained royal and
distinctive from rest of India. Various forts and palaces of Jaipur still stand
as symbols of its royalty.
Jaipur has been home for numerous kings and queens. Hawa
Mahal or ‘Palace of winds’ is a five story monument whose architecture
resembles with honeycomb web of a beehive with small windows originally formed
to allow royal ladies to observe everyday life in the street below without
being seen. The architecture of the building helps to keep the environment
inside cool because of multiple windows and fountains at the centre of each of
the chambers.
Jal Mahal is another attraction of this city which is a
palace in the middle of a beautiful lake. You have to reach the fort in Rajput
style wooden boats which exhibits Rajput royalty and style. It is actually a
five storied building out of which four floors remain under water when the lake
is full. The top floor and the terrace are exposed which has a garden too with arched
passages.
Apart from this if you want the real feel of royal life then
have a stay at Taj Palace Hotel which originally was the residence of the
Maharaja of Jaipur.
Jaipur also has famous temples which are ancient and are
considered to be place for Hindu pilgrimage. Galtaji consist of several temples
and water tanks which are also called kunds, has been a retreat for Hindu
ascetics since the early 1500s. The temple is famous for natural water springs.
It is believed that there are seven main tanks which never go dry. Other famous
temples which are worth visiting are Govind Dev Ji Temple, Birla temple and
Garh Ganesh Temple.
It is difficult to describe the glory of Jaipur in words.
Many forts, many palaces and many many stories which give you glimpse of the
royal life. The best way according to me is to pay a visit to Jaipur if you want
to know how it feels to be imperial.
